A couple short weeks ago, we let you know that Sony had announced that they were shipping the Xperia S globally, but nothing specific was confirmed for Canada. Now, Sony has come forward with a press release stating that the Android device will be available on April 17th in limited quantities, exclusively from the Sony Store. As for pricing and carrier availability, they make mention that it is compatible with the Rogers network, and later stated that it would be available for $99.99 on a 3 year term through Rogers. Whether Sony will later allow Rogers to sell the handset or not hasn’t been revealed as of yet, and no mention of other carriers seeing the device in the future was made either.

The Sony Xperia S features a 4.3” (1280 x 720) Reality Display with the Mobile BRAVIA Engine, and is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor. It comes with a 12 MP rear-facing camera with Sony Exmor R for mobile technology, which is capable or recording 1080p video. It also has a front-facing camera capable of 720p video capture, and offers up NFC connectivity, along with the regular connectivity support such as HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. It will launch running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, however it’s apparently set for an ICS upgrade in the coming months.

We recently let you know that Telus was getting set to release the white Samsung Galaxy Note, and are happy to let you know that it’s now available! If you’re not a Telus customer or aren’t willing to make the switch, we also have good news for you, as Bell and Rogers are getting ready to launch it as well. Bell’s internal documentation confirms an April 10th release, while Rogers tweeted that it will be available from them as early as next week.

As for pricing, all 3 carriers are offering it for the same price as the standard black version. For Telus and Bell, that puts the cost at the $200 mark on a 3 year term, or $780 outright. Rogers also has it at $200 with a 3 year contract, with no term pricing at $650. As expected, features and specifications are also the same as the black version, boasting a 5.3” (800 x 1280) display, an 8MP camera, and running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, with an upgrade to ICS “coming soon”.

We just let you know that Rogers will be releasing the HTC One X, hopefully in the coming weeks. Now, even more information has been made available, with Rogers officially taking pre-orders for the Android handset.

The One X features a 4.7” Super LCD 720p HD display, and an 8 MP camera with 1080p HD video recording. It offers up LTE connectivity, and is optimized for Beats Audio. Other features include its dual-core 1.5 GHz processor, 1 GB of RAM, and the standard.

As for pre-order details, you can secure yours at the price of $169.99 on a 3 year term. There’s a contest for those who pre-order, with a grand prize of an HTC prize pack, which includes a trip for 2 to Toronto for the 2012 Universal Music Video Awards After Party, $2500 spending money, and travel/hotel accommodations. The contest ends April 30th, which might point us towards a release date of early May, but nothing is confirmed as of yet. Head to Rogers’ website to pre-order your HTC One X, and stay tuned for more information on a release timeframe.

LTE is quickly growing in popularity and availability in Canada, with the big 3 carriers offering connectivity in varying major urban areas. Rogers customers in Calgary and Halifax can now join in the LTE fun, experiencing significantly faster data speeds when in coverage areas.

In all, Rogers’ LTE network is live in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver, Ottawa, and surrounding areas for each. They also recently launched it in St John’s, Newfoundland, and now Halifax and Calgary can be added to the list. In the press release for the Halifax/Calgary launch, Rogers also mentioned Edmonton will see the network soon as well, sometime “in the coming months”. Hopefully the expansion doesn’t stop any time soon!

A little while back, we let you know that Rogers would carry the LG Optimus L7 at some point, though release information was completely unknown. While we still can’t confirm a date, there has been word that Rogers employees have received some documentation on the Optimus L7, outlining the features and some specifications.

The Optimus L7 has a 4.3” display with Gorilla Glass, and is powered by a 1 GHz processor. It features a 5 MP camera and runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, that is “tastefully tweaked by LG”.

With the documentation going out, release information is bound to be on its way. Hopefully we’ll see it land soon!
