Last year when Rogers' discount brand Chatr launched, they offered up a 6 month promotion giving a $10 monthly discount towards customers' price plans. Having been about 6 months now, Chatr has switched up their site, indicating that they have made the discount permanent!

So, for $25/month, you can get unlimited incoming talk, unlimited outgoing talk to anybody in your province, and unlimited incoming text. For an extra $10, you can make that province-wide outgoing talk Canada-wide, and add unlimited outgoing text messaging as well.

If you live in one of Chatr's Zones and are looking for affordable talk and text options, be sure to check them out!

Chatr is looking to increase the competition this holiday season by offering up a $10 discount on their price plans until the end of December. The discount will be effective for any customers who sign up before the 31st, and will discount their monthly plan for 6 consecutive months, at which points the price will automatically be bumped back up to the standard cost. It's great to see competition brewing in Canada, as we're seeing all kinds of price drops, discounts, and promotions. Hopefully it won't stop anytime soon!

Many Canadian wireless consumers have been wondering when Public Mobile would launch data services, if at all, and thankfully confirmation has come in recently. Expected to launch in January of 2011, Public Mobile will be unveiling their unlimited data offerings for those residing within coverage areas. No word yet on which device(s) they'll launch, but we'll be sure to keep you updated as more news becomes available. Once Public Mobile goes live with data services, Chatr will be the only carrier in Canada not offering mobile connectivity.

Chatr, the newest discount brand owned by Rogers, quietly launched in Montreal about a week ago. There are a number of retail outlets for those interested to visit, including Futureshop, Wireless Wave, Zellers, and an official Chatr store located at 705 Rue Ste Catherine O. With any luck, the increased competition in Montreal will result in even cheaper plans and devices, and it seems Chatr is looking to get that started by putting their entire device line-up on sale. Montreal residents, are you thinking about signing up with Chatr?
