Motorola recently announced two new handsets, the ATRIX HD LTE and the RAZR V. The ATRIX HD LTE features a 4.5? (720 x 1280) touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass and an 8 MP camera with LED flash and 1080p HD video recording. It has a secondary 1.3 MP camera and is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM. The ATRIX HD LTE runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and offers up 8 GB of storage. Bell has announced that they will be offering the handset exclusively in Canada, and internal documents have since been leaked pointing to an early August release.

The RAZR V is expected to be fairly similar, with the main differences found in the display and processor. The RAZR V comes with a 4.3? (540 x 960) touchscreen display, and is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. It lacks the LTE connectivity that the ATRIX HD offers, but still looks like a great device. The RAZR V will be available from Bell in August as well, but will not be an exclusive. WIND Mobile is also set to launch it a little bit later in the year, announcing they would be carrying it ?this fall?.

Unfortunately there has been no word on pricing, but we?ll be sure to keep you updated!

Globalive Communication Corporation (division of YAK communication) have submitted today (the last day for submit application for Canadian wireless auction. YAK already offer telecommunication service to Canadian but not with own spectrum. The auction begging the 27 may 2008 and no date are no available for auction closing.

"Canada is one of the least competitive wireless markets in the world," said Lacavera. "Cell phone rates are too high and penetration is too low. Many Canadians do not realize that they're paying from 60 per cent to almost 80 per cent more than Americans for their wireless service." Lacavera attributes high wireless pricing and low market penetration in Canada to a lack of competitive alternatives. Currently, only three operators - Telus, Rogers and Bell - own a portion of the wireless spectrum. "It's time for an entrant in the wireless market that will provide Canadians with a new cost-effective, feature-rich offering," said Lacavera. "Yak is uniquely positioned to be that offering."
