Telus has recently launched a new trade-in program to encourage customers to recycle their unused devices, offering up to $200 in value. The program is relatively simple ? you can trade in up to 3 devices, for a maximum combined value of $200. You can use that ?credit? towards the purchase of a new device or accessory, though you must renew or activate a new account when doing so. The program is applicable to cell phones, mobile internet sticks and portable hotspots, but doesn?t currently extend to tablets, unfortunately.

In the press release, Telus mentioned they commissioned a survey to find out what Canadians do with their old devices. The results came in with 61% of Canadians saying they have between one and five old or unused cell phones laying around at home. This is a smart offering from Telus and eRecyclyingCorps in their collaborative effort, hopefully the appropriate value is given to those who want to take advantage!

WIND Mobile has recently announced that they were preparing to launch the Huawei E1691 Data Stick, with pricing coming in at $80 contract-free. Now we've received even more information, pointing to a February 10th release date. For those who wish to reserve one of these data sticks, WIND Mobile is willing to secure one for you, as long as you purchase the SIM card and sign up for the $25 Infinite Laptop Special Edition plan. Once the devices arrive in-store, those who reserved one will be contacted, and will have 72 hours to pick up the stick and finalize the activation. At the time of activation and pick-up, you'll get a $40 discount on the price of the stick to compensate for the cost of the SIM card and any other activation fees that may have been incurred. For those in WIND Mobile coverage zones looking for a portable internet solution, the Huawei E1691 Data Stick is certainly one to consider.

Their has been quite a bit of buzz about what Sony would be doing next when it comes to their mobile gaming platform PlayStation, and with rumours flying out every corner of the internet, it looks like we're finally getting some official confirmation. February 13th, Sony Ericsson intends on officially announcing the Ericsson Play, the next Ericsson Android handset and the next PlayStation portable device all rolled into one!

The Play is expected to feature a 4.2" (480x854) LED touchscreen display, a 5MP camera with LED flash, and will run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread at launch. Other specifications include a 1GHz processor, 380MB of RAM, and connectivity options including Wi-Fi, GPS, and bluetooth. What sets the Play apart from other Android handsets is the PSP-style controls that slide out where a QWERTY keyboard would normally be located, giving hardware control for gaming to users where they'd normally need to use touchscreen controls. No word yet on pricing, or when the device will launch, but we should be getting that information at the official announcement, which is just around the corner on the 13th.
