Motorola recently announced two new handsets, the ATRIX HD LTE and the RAZR V. The ATRIX HD LTE features a 4.5? (720 x 1280) touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass and an 8 MP camera with LED flash and 1080p HD video recording. It has a secondary 1.3 MP camera and is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM. The ATRIX HD LTE runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and offers up 8 GB of storage. Bell has announced that they will be offering the handset exclusively in Canada, and internal documents have since been leaked pointing to an early August release.

The RAZR V is expected to be fairly similar, with the main differences found in the display and processor. The RAZR V comes with a 4.3? (540 x 960) touchscreen display, and is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. It lacks the LTE connectivity that the ATRIX HD offers, but still looks like a great device. The RAZR V will be available from Bell in August as well, but will not be an exclusive. WIND Mobile is also set to launch it a little bit later in the year, announcing they would be carrying it ?this fall?.

Unfortunately there has been no word on pricing, but we?ll be sure to keep you updated!

Bell recently launched the Samsung Galaxy S II HD LTE, and now Sasktel is advertising it on their site. Initially they had it labelled as ?Coming soon?, however that label has now disappeared, indicating that it?s now available from the Saskatchewan carrier. Users will be able to benefit from the improved resolution, processor and overall enhancements over the standard Galaxy S II, however LTE connectivity won?t be coming until this fall.

The S II HD LTE features a 4.65? (720 x 1280) Super AMOLED touch screen display with Gorilla Glass. It?s powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM, and comes with 16 GB of storage. Currently, the S II HD LTE runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, though an Ice Cream Sandwich update is expected in the coming weeks. Other notable features include its 8 MP camera with LED flash and 1080p video recording, along with a secondary 2 MP camera.

If you?re in the market for a new Android handset and can?t wait for the Galaxy S III, be sure to check out the Galaxy S II HD LTE from Sasktel. It is available now for $129.99 on a 3 year term, or $569.99 monthly.

We recently let you know that Nokia and Rogers are getting set to launch the Lumia 900, but recent information being discussed online points to more from Nokia as it relates to Windows. Apparently, Nokia is looking to build and send out a batch of Windows 8 tablets running in Microsoft?s ?Metro? UI by the end of the year. No word on a Canadian release specifically, but with the tablet market heating up and another strong competitor coming on board with Windows 8, we should see it eventually.

There aren?t many other details available, though it?s expected to be powered by a Quallcomm dual-core chipset, and offers simple but not seamless support for existing Windows applications. Windows 8 is expected to launch this fall, and manufacturers such as Dell and HP are expected to have a strong presence early on. Could Nokia compete with these manufacturers in such a crowded tablet market?

Microsoft recently held a Windows Phone preview event, meant to show off some of the new updates coming to the platform. As expected, the topic of focus was Mango, the next OS version of Windows Phone. Apparently Mango will bring forward 500 new features to "push the boundaries of the smartphone experience around communications, apps, and the Internet."

One of the new features included will be "Threads", which will allow users to switch between text, Facebook chat, and Windows Live Messenger within the same conversation. It will also bring improvements to multi-tasking, make Live Tiles more dynamic and information-filled, feature Internet Explorer 9, and much more.

According to the press release, Windows Phone Mango will be available on new devices being shipped this fall, and while the update should coincide with that time frame, they state "update timing will be provided closer to availability." We'll be sure to let you know once more information is made available.

Bell is stepping up their competitive edge by reducing the price of their Novatel Wireless U547 Turbo Stick to $0 on either a 2 or 3 year term, though contract-free pricing remains the same at $199.95. The U547 is capable of download speeds of up to 42 Mbps using Bell's dual-cell HSPA network, a service that Telus is getting set to launch next month, so it's no surprise that Bell is offering a price reduction now. In order to get this Turbo Stick for free on a 2-3 year term, customers will have to sign up for the 42 Mbps Speed Upgrade for $10/month, and fall within Bell's coverage area for the service.

The rumours are everywhere about RIM and the new BlackBerry Torch 9800, and the latest points to a white model launching exclusively from Rogers. Since they've carried every other device from RIM available in white, and have had exclusivity on it at least for some time, this rumour isn't far fetched. We know the Torch will be arriving on Telus and Bell sometime this fall, more than likely mid September, but Rogers hasn't released any dates for their launch. Apparently the white version will be available a short time after the standard black version, so we'll be sure to keep you updated.
