WIND Mobile is getting set to launch a new entry-level Android handset, the Huawei Astro. The device, which runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, features a 3.5? (320 x 480) touch screen display, and a 3.2 MP camera. As for pricing, speculation floating around online points to roughly $150 or so. If you?re in one of WIND?s zones and are looking for an affordable Android handset, keep an eye out come April 26th for the Huawei Astro. If Windows Phone is more your style, remember that WIND is also launching the Nokia Lumia 710 soon.

Chatr has officially made an addition to their handset line-up, "The Speedster". The Sony Ericsson txt pro CK15a features a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a 3" (240x400) touchscreen display. It comes with a 3.15MP camera with QVGA video capture, and supports connectivity including Wi-Fi (b/g) and bluetooth.

If you're interested in picking up an affordable handset and are located in one of Chatr's zones, this device from Sony Ericsson may be worth considering. It is available now for $125 contract-free.

KOODO Mobile has already included a variety of Android handsets in their line-up, but one design-type we don't see nearly enough anymore with smartphones are QWERTY handsets. The LG Optimus Chat, which according to screenshots leaked online will be the next Android device for KOODO, has a horizontally sliding keyboard for easy typing. It features a 2.8" (320x480) touchscreen display, and a 3.15MP camera. It runs on Android 2.2 Froyo and offers up Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and GPS support.

While still unconfirmed, it looks like KOODO will be offering up the Optimus Chat for $200 outright, or $50 using their tab.

Those looking for an affordable device for messaging and calls now have yet another option from Virgin Mobile - the LG Rumour Plus. The Rumour Plus has a 2.4" (240x320) touchscreen display, a horizontally sliding QWERTY keyboard, and a 2MP camera. Virgin hasn't included the handset on their website as of yet, but several retailers have put the device on their shelves. For those considering this handset, the price comes in with an affordable price tag of just $150 contract-free.

Mobilicity has recently added two new devices to their line-up, and while they aren't as impressive as the Samsung Nexus S, they are definitely great additions. The Nokia E73 is now available from Mobilicity for $149.99 outright, while the Samsung G-Touch comes in at just $139.99.

The Nokia E73 features a 2.4" (320x240) display, full QWERTY keyboard, and 5MP camera with LED flash. It runs on Symbian OS 9.3 (Series 60), and has Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and GPS connectivity.

The Samsung G-Touch has a 2.8" (240x320) touchscreen display, a horizontally sliding QWERTY keyboard, and a 2MP camera. The G-Touch has bluetooth support in addition to A-GPS, making it suitable entry-level cell phone for those who don't want to pay a whole lot for hardware.

According to recently leaked information, Bell is apparently getting set to launch the Samsung Galaxy 551. The Galaxy 551 comes with a 3.2" (240x400) touchscreen display and a full horizontally sliding QWERTY keyboard. It runs on Android 2.2 Froyo, and features a 3.15MP camera with QVGA video capture, along with bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi (b, g, n, and hotspot). This entry level Android device is powered by a 667MHz processor and comes with 160MB of internal storage for applications.

No word yet on price points, but apparently Bell will be launching the Samsung Galaxy 551 in late April or very early May. We'll be sure to keep you updated on any other information that comes our way!

According to recently leaked information, Mobilicity is getting set to launch the HTC Emerald. The Emerald, which is Mobilciity's name for the myTouch 4G/HTC Glacier, will apparently come to the carrier sometime in the coming months, more than likely in mid-late May. The Emerald features a 3.8" (480x800) touchscreen display, 5MP camera with LED flash and 720p HD video capture, along with a 1GHz processor. Coming with 4GB of internal storage and 768MB of RAM, the Emerald will surely make a great addition to Mobilicity's ever-growing Android line-up.

No word on price points for the HTC Emerald, but we'll keep everybody informed of any further information. Mobilicity is really shaping up to be a great carrier for those who live in one of their zones, what do you think?

Last year when Rogers' discount brand Chatr launched, they offered up a 6 month promotion giving a $10 monthly discount towards customers' price plans. Having been about 6 months now, Chatr has switched up their site, indicating that they have made the discount permanent!

So, for $25/month, you can get unlimited incoming talk, unlimited outgoing talk to anybody in your province, and unlimited incoming text. For an extra $10, you can make that province-wide outgoing talk Canada-wide, and add unlimited outgoing text messaging as well.

We recently let you know that Sony Ericsson was planning to launch a new PSP-style phone, the "Play", and now we're happy to report confirmation that Rogers will be launching the new device. Along with the confirmation regarding the Play, it looks like a second Ericsson handset will be coming to Rogers, the Arc. No word yet on pricing or an exact release date for either of these devices, but a "Spring 2011" launch has been confirmed.

The Play, which features PSP-style controls that slide out horizontally in place of a QWERTY keybaord, runs on Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread, and features a 4" (480x854) touchscreen display, a 5MP camera with LED flash, a front facing camera for video calling, and more. The Arc is also an impressive handset, featuring a 4.2"(480x854) touchscreen display, Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread, and an 8MP camera with LED flash and 720p HD video capture. Both of these upcoming handsets are powered by 1GHz processors, and feature connectivity options including Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and GPS.
