We just let you know that Virgin Mobile has reduced the cost of their data packages by $5/monthly, and now it's WIND's turn to crank up the competition. A few days ago, select non-data BlackBerry users began receiving promotional text messages offering them free data services until April 15th. The text message selected users are receiving reads: "Hey BlackBerry user?try FREE data with our Infinite BlackBerry add-on until Apr-15. Interested? Reply Y to this message and start browsing, BBM, email & more". WIND Mobile is currently one of the only carriers that haven't made data services mandatory for smartphones, but with their contract-free handset purchase structure, it doesn't come as much of a surprise that they're enticing customers with this promotion, rather than forcing them into data package subscriptions.

Rogers has officially launched their Navigator application for the BlackBerry Torch 9800, which they've been pushing on BlackBerry users for some time now. The application is free to download via BlackBerry App World, however it requires a $4.99/month subscription to use. Luckily, users are able to unsubscribe directly from the application at any time, so if it doesn't seem worth it, it won't be much of a hassle to avoid the charge on your next months bill. The application, which is based on Telenav, offers users voice-guided turn-by-turn navigation, 2D and 3D maps, in addition to real time traffic information, and more.

WIND Mobile has been around for about 9 months now, and there's been much speculation about the success of the new entrant. Thanks to an official announcement, we now know that they had exceeded 100 000 subscriptions in early July of this year, and since it's been a little over a month since then, odds are that number has increased by at least a couple thousand. Currently available in Toronto, Ottawa, Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver, WIND Mobile's goal is to reach 1.5 million customers within 3 years of launching, so it will be interesting to see what the future holds. Constantly improving their network and recently updating their device line-up to include an Android handset, we could see the growth WIND needs to hit their goal just over 2 years from now.

According to Marie-H?l?ne Lagac? from Molson with whom we could discuss a few minutes to get more information. We have been informed that it was a mistake by the advertising company that created this promotion and that Molson had no agreement with Rogers Wireless and Apple Canada. The iPhone has been removed and the complete rules changed. However, the section announced the iPhone in the rules of the competition Molson says now: "Model offering 8GB of storage, and a touch screen including accessories for a maximum value of 800$. Prizes to be win, when available on the Canadian market. (Not before January 2008). Not included in the subscription network or any other charges related to its use. ". Do you have any idea of a device that will not be available on the market before January 2008, which has a touch screen and a storage space 8GB? Of course the only device that may look like these features is the iPhone. So we contacted representatives of Molson to know what device was now available. Representatives of Molson seemed extremely angry and "close the discutions," they say. Molson has no idea of the device that will be offered and mentions that the prize could be change into money.

The regulations are only available in French since the change yesterday
