A little while back, we saw Videotron launch a $30/6GB data add-on, and it didn't take long for a variety of other carriers to follow suit in the province. Bell and Virgin Mobile began offering their Quebec subscribers the same package, and Telus also did the same. Now, Rogers is responding to the competition, and has also made their own $30/6GB add-on available for Quebec customers. Theirs, like the others, is available for a "limited time", and speculation points to a July 31st expiry date. It includes 6GB of data usage and unlimited Social Networking, and requires you to renew on a new 3 year term.

New entrant Mobilicity has just launched their network in two more major cities today, Edmonton and Vancouver, and has officially confirmed the Ottawa launch will take place tomorrow. Along with the launch comes 100 retail outlets throughout Vancouver, and 20 locations in both Edmonton and Ottawa. This makes 5 cities for Mobilicity and should help them grow!

In addition to the new network launches, Mobilicity has also slimmed down their price plan line-up to just 3 packages. None of the price plans come with data, so customers who wish to get data access will have to subscribe to the new $10 data add-on. The 3 new price plans are:

$25/monthly: Unlimited Local Calling, Text and Picture Messaging, Caller I.D., and Mobilicity to Mobilicity Calling.

$35/monthly: Unlimited Local Calling, Text and Picture Messaging, Caller I.D., Mobilicity to Mobilicity Calling, Voicemail, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, 3 Way Calling, and Province Wide Long Distance.

$45/monthly: Unlimited Local Calling, Text and Picture Messaging, Caller I.D., Mobilicity to Mobilicity Calling, Voicemail, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, 3 Way Calling, Province Wide Long Distance, Canadian Long Distance, U.S. Long Distance, and Global Text Messaging.

We recently let you know that Sasktel was set to launch the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant on August 25th, however due to shipping delays, the launch has been pushed back to "early next week". Along with the delay announcement on Twitter, they also confirmed the pricing of the new Android device, which will be $150 on a 3 year term, or $645 contract-free. Saskatchewan residents can get their hands on a Vibrant S now if they'd like, since Bell just launched their HSPA+ network in the province, and contract-free pricing is considerably lower than Sasktel's.

We recently filled you in on the known details of Rogers new brand Chatr, and have more information available for you! Offering up unlimited plans and affordable, contract-free devices, Chatr Wireless aims to compete with Wind Mobile, Mobilicity, and Public Mobile directly. According to internal training documents, "zones" at launch will include Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Edmonton, and Ottawa, though maps also included in the material suggest coverage spanning through Quebec and into the east coast.

Marketing based on the reliability of the service, since the service will be using an existing network, Rogers claims this new brand will be able to offer fewer dropped calls, better reception, and one low monthly fee for unlimited talk and text compared to competitors.

Scrapping activation fees with Chatr, customers will purchasing a SIM card, and can choose between 2 plans.Though pricing is yet to be confirmed, it seems as though the first plan will be Unlimited Talk for $35 which will offer unlimited in-province calling and 50 outgoing SMS (unlimited incoming). The second plan, Unlimited Talk & Text is rumoured to be $45, and offers unlimited talk across Canada, along with unlimited SMS to and from Canada and the U.S.A. Keep in mind that these are "in-zone" rates, so customers roaming would be subject to additional fees.

Lastly, the training material leaked shows at least four handsets at launch:

The essential - Nokia 1661 - $49.99 The slider - Nokia 2680 - $89.99 The flip - LG GB125R - $69.99 The QWERTY - Samsung Gravity - $149.99
