We just let you know that both Telus and Rogers were offering up discounts to those who sign up for their flex rate plans for tablets, and now Bell and Virgin Mobile have done the same. They?re offering basically the same thing as Telus, promising to limit your charges at the bottom tier, providing unlimited data with no overages. Additionally, Bell is offering to waive the activation fee for those who sign up as well. According to their sites, both Bell?s and Virgin Mobile?s offers expire March 31st.

If you have or are getting an HSPA or LTE enabled tablet but don?t have a service provider, you now have plenty of promotional offers to choose from!

Likely in response to Videotron and Virgin's(Quebec-only) recent introduction of their $30/6GB data package, Telus has gone ahead re-introduced their own 6GB promo add-on for Quebec customers. It's unfortunate that the rest of Canada can't benefit from this recent competition, but it's still great to see carriers working to win customers over in some markets at least.

The 6GB add-on from Telus is available for all device types, including iPhones, and will work for both 4G and CDMA handsets. It is available to new, existing, and renewing customers, and overage charges come in at the standard 5 cents/MB. The package is being offered on a promotional basis only, and will no longer be available after July 31st, so be sure to contact Telus if you're interested in adding it to your line.

We just let you know that Virgin Mobile has reduced the cost of their data packages by $5/monthly, and now it's WIND's turn to crank up the competition. A few days ago, select non-data BlackBerry users began receiving promotional text messages offering them free data services until April 15th. The text message selected users are receiving reads: "Hey BlackBerry user?try FREE data with our Infinite BlackBerry add-on until Apr-15. Interested? Reply Y to this message and start browsing, BBM, email & more". WIND Mobile is currently one of the only carriers that haven't made data services mandatory for smartphones, but with their contract-free handset purchase structure, it doesn't come as much of a surprise that they're enticing customers with this promotion, rather than forcing them into data package subscriptions.

We know that Mobilicity is planning to launch in additional cities besides Toronto by the end of the year, though no specific dates have been reported as of yet. Thanks to a rumour circulating on the internet recently, it looks like they may be planning to launch in Edmonton in the coming weeks. While the rumour is a bit unconventional compared to most in the wireless industry, this tip-off comes from a Kijiji job posting, with a 3rd party promotional company seeking to hire employees for a "Mobilicity Launch Promotion", where the selected candidates would canvass the streets of Edmonton asking random people to share their "cell phone horror stories", all while dressed up in halloween costumes!

What do you think, is this just an early promotional technique being put in place by Mobilicity, or will the new-entrant expand into Edmonton sometime around Halloween? Let us know in the forums!

Last month we let you know that WIND Mobile was having two great promotions - EverybodyWINDS and ReferAFriend. Today, WIND Mobile announced that both promotions will be extended to June 30th, giving new and existing customers even more chances to save on their monthly plan costs.

EverybodyWINDS provides new customers who sign up within the promotional period with a 50% discount for 6 full months on their monthly plan fee, while ReferAFriend allows existing customers to refer friends to the company, with each successful referral resulting in one free month of service. With the Vancouver launch set to take place in just a few days, there is even more opportunity for users to refer friends and earn up to six months of free service.

McDonalds and Coca-Cola has launched a promotional offer in Japan which was to offer an mp3 player up to each customer 'to 10 000 readers. So far everything is going well and it's still interesting to eat poorly and receive an MP3 player in exchange. However, the mp3 players also come with a small gift, a trojan that records your information and sends them to its creator via email. McDonalds still react quickly by creating a phone line in 24hrs to investigate and fix its mistakes.
