Pre-orders for the new iPad have reached their limit in Canada and internationally, but those who are still determined to pick one up still have hope. Apple retail stores as well as Future Shop will be opening their doors at 8am this Friday, March 16th. No word on how much stock each will have, or if all Future Shop locations will have inventory come launch day, but it may be worth a try for those who just can?t wait for the next waves of shipments from Apple.

As a reminder, pricing starts at $519 for the 16GB Wi-Fi only model, while the 16GB LTE version begins at $649.

Just as everybody expected, Apple announced their new iPad model today. It features a variety of minor upgrades over the iPad 2, but features a couple of major improvements such as the display and 4G LTE connectivity. The 9.7? screen, with an incredible resolution of 2048 x 1536, is being called the ?Retina? display despite it missing the mark that the iPhone 4 hits. This might not be the end of the world, however, since users typically hold the tablet further from their eyes than their smartphones. The other major plus is the 4G LTE option, with Rogers, Bell, and Telus already confirmed to be launching the tablet.

Other features include upgraded quad-core graphics processing and a 5MP rear facing camera with face detection, capable of 1080p video recording with image stabilization. As for battery life, Apple is claiming that it will get 10 hours of battery life, reduced to 9 hours for LTE connected iPads. Physical dimensions come in slightly bulkier than the iPad 2, at 9.4mm thin and 1.4lbs.

So when can you get your hands on one? It?s up for pre-order now on Apple?s website, and is confirmed to be coming to Rogers, Telus and Bell. On Apple?s website, they mention that pre-order shipments are expected for delivery between March 16th and 20th. Pricing for the Wi-Fi model comes in at $519 for 16GB model, $619 for the 32GB, and $719 for 64GB. The Wi-Fi + LTE option will cost you $649 for the 16GB version, $749 for the 32GB, and $849 for the 64GB. It will be available in both black and white. As a result of the near-future launch, Apple has reduced the price of the iPad 2 by $100 for each model ? good news for those looking for some savings!

The Samsung Galaxy S series of handsets, including the Fascinate, Captivate, and Vibrant have been favourites of Canadians since their launch last year. Even the Galaxy Tab did well, being one of the first tablets available besides Apple's iPad. Unfortunately, all of these devices have been stuck on Froyo since at least December of last year, and while speculation pointed to a future Gingerbread update, confirmation was still awaited.

Finally, Samsung has announced that they will be pushing Android 2.3 Gingerbread out to all Galaxy S devices, including the Tab. The European market will get the updates first, expected "mid-May", so they should see it any day now. Unfortunately no word was given regarding Canada specifically, but they did say that it would be "gradually rolled out to other European markets, North America, Southeast Asia, the Middle East Asia, Africa, and the rest of the world according to the regional plan".

Hopefully Canadians can get all of the features and benefits of Gingerbread on the Galaxy S handsets and Tab soon! Despite the lack of clear details, we're expecting it to be available by mid-Summer at the latest, but that's just our best guess!

With summer approaching, most people are expecting a new iPhone model to be announced, but some have been holding out for the iPhone 4 to be available in white. As of today, the iPhone 4 is officially available in white from Apple directly or from each of the major carriers. Pricing remains consistent with existing price points for the black version of the handset, and the only difference is the colour itself.

If you have been holding out, head to your carrier of choice's nearest store and pick yours up today!

Summer is coming, and with it comes WWDC and all kinds of announcements from Apple. This June, Apple says they're going to "unveil the future of iOS", which has many analysts sharing their thoughts. One of the most common rumours, with information apparently coming from individuals with knowledge of the company's supply chain, points to a September ship date for the iPhone 5.

Other speculation points to the new iPhone model having an edge-to-edge screen, but otherwise similar to the iPhone 4 physically. It will also come with an 8MP camera according to the information, and should have a much stronger A5 processor.

Who knows if this will prove to be true, or what else Apple has in store for us regarding iOS' future. Hopefully we'll see some truly innovative technology!

Sasktel has made it evident for months that they intended on releasing the iPhone 4, but we finally have an official launch date! According to Sasktel's website, the iPhone 4 will be launching the Apple iPhone 4 next Tuesday, April 26th. The 16GB will come in at $159 on a 3 year term, or $649 outright, while the 32GB model can be purchased for $269 on a 3 year contract, and $749 contract-free.

Those purchasing the handset outright, be warned that it is still locked to Sasktel. If you aren't eligible for an upgrade or don't like the idea of contracts however, it's certainly a viable option. So who's buying an iPhone 4 from Sasktel?

We recently let you know that Telus was getting set to officially launch the Android-powered Motorola XOOM. They have recently done so, offering up the popular tablet for $599.99 outright, which is the same pricing as Future Shop and Best Buy who released it a couple weeks ago.

To provide a quick recap on the Motorola XOOM's specifications, it features a 10.1" (800x1280) touchscreen display, a 5MP camera with 720p HD video recording, and 1GB of RAM. The XOOM runs on Android 3.0 Honeycomb, and serves as a great Android alternative to the BlackBerry PlayBook and Apple iPad.

The Motorola XOOM is now available from Telus for $599.99 contract-free. Since it is a Wi-Fi only device, it is doubtful that we'll see contract-pricing for the tablet. Remember though, you can tether your Android 2.2 Froyo (or higher) devices using hotspot functionality to get data on the go, a process similar to that which the PlayBook uses.

Apple has recently launched their highly-anticipated iPad 2 in Canada, and it has been a huge success thus far. Both Wi-Fi only, and Wi-Fi + 3G models are available, in a variety of storage sizes. For a Wi-Fi only version, you're looking at $519 for a 16GB model, $619 for the 32GB version, and $719 for the 64GB model. Those interested in picking one up with 3G connectivity, price points currently sit at $649 for the 16GB model, $749 for 32GB, and $849 for the huge 64GB version.

The iPad 2 brings with it a number of improvements over it's predecessor, including a 1GHz dual-core A5 processor. Users will also benefit from the LED-backlit display, 720p HD video recording capabilities of the rear-facing camera, and of course the newly added front-facing camera for facetime, and more. At only 8.8mm thick, the iPad 2 isn't just high-powered, it also looks great.

Apple's iPad 2 is available now to Canadians, and you can pick one up from an Apple retail store, FutureShop/Best Buy, or Rogers, Bell, or Telus. So who picked one up?

Sasktel has been making the news quite a bit since they launched their 3G network several months back, and they aren't showing any signs of slowing down. According to several statements made by the Saskatchewan carrier, they will soon be launching 3 new devices - the HTC Incredible S, the iPhone 4, and the Samsung Galaxy 550.

The HTC Incredible S, which is expected to launch "sometime in April" features a 4" (480x800) touchscreen display, 8MP camera with dual-LED flash and 720p HD video capture, along with a secondary 1.3MP front-facing camera. Powered by a 1GHz processor and 768MB of RAM, the Incredible S comes with 1.1GB of internal storage. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and GPS, and the HTC Incredible S will run Android 2.2 Froyo at launch, along with HTC Sense UI 3.0. Virgin Mobile, and possibly Bell, are also expected to launch the Incredible S.

Next up is the Samsung Galaxy 550, which is also expected sometime in April. The Galaxy 550 runs on Android Eclair 2.1. Beyond that, there aren't many details available regarding this upcoming Android device, but it looks like it will be a mid-range handset. No word yet on pricing, but we'll be sure to keep an eye out for more details!

Lastly, comes the iPhone 4. Sasktel has put up a registration page for those interested in receiving updates regarding the launch of the popular device on Sasktel. The release date is still unknown, but it's definitely a good sign that they have implemented a registration page. Hopefully we'll see the iPhone 4 launch before Apple's next generation of mobile device is announced, which will likely happen sometime this summer.

Overall, great job from Sasktel expanding their line-up to include several options for Saskatchewan residents!

The iPad 2 is powered by an A5 dual-core processor, and will also support HDMI out using a propriatary Apple accessory. The last noticeable change made over the original iPad is wireless hotspot functionality in iOS 4.3, a feature which Rogers has already confirmed will be enabled and usable on their version.

The Apple iPad 2 will be available in either black or white at launch, will run Apple iOS 4.3, and is expected to launch on March 25th for Canadians. No confirmation on pricing just yet, but we'll be sure to keep you updated once more information becomes available!
