Motorola has officially launched a fairly unique product to Canadians, the Motorola MOTOACTIV. The device looks much like a watch, but features a 1.6? touch screen made of Gorilla Glass, and advertised to be sweat-proof, rain-resistant, and scratch-resistant. So what?s the big deal?

The MOTOACTIV is powered by Android and is a ?cutting-edge GPS fitness tracker, heart rate monitor-enabled, and smart MP3 player? in one. Using GPS and AccuSense technology, it can track your running, walking, cycling, and other workout data including time, distance, speed, calories burned, and heart rate (if paired with a heart rate monitor). It features tight integration with your smart phone as well, allowing you to pair it to receive calls and text messages on the go, in addition to mobile and online access to their ?Training Portal?. As far as MP3 functionality, the MOTOACTIV comes with 8GB of built in memory, and it also offers FM radio capabilities. If you?re looking to extend the device?s functionality even further, you can also pair it with pedometers and bike sensors for more details on your workout or exercise.

The MOTOACTIV is available now in limited quantities Running Room stores, and online at Motorola let us know that the device would retail for $249.99, though The Source has it listed (and currently out of stock) for $259.99. As for accessories, there are several, including the wristband for $29.99 which is supposed to be included by default. You can pick up a universal clip or soft armband for more wearing options, each for $29.99 as well.

WIND Mobile has been advertising that their mobile portal would be launching for some time now, and that day has finally come. Effective now, WIND customers have access to WINDWORLD on their handsets, which offers weather information, quick Facebook access, in addition to CBC stories, and more. Customers are also able to purchase ringtones, games, and graphics from the portal, which can be accessed by visiting from your device. Access to the portal is free for a limited time, though no word yet on when access will begin costing customers.

As of today, Mobilicity has officially launched their own mobile content portal - the Download Store. Customers can access the Download Store easily, as it's set as the home page on most of their handset's browsers. Alternatively, the new content portal can be accessed by going to on any Mobilicity device. Content ranges in price, with games costing between $3.00 - $7.00, wallpapers set at $2.50, and ringtones typically costing $3.50. "Themes" will also be available for download, which include a ringtone and wallpaper image, and offer a slight discount costing only $5.00 for the combination.

Rogers announced yesterday that their On Demand Mobile application will soon be launching, and with it will be optional live FIFA World Cup coverage. Subscriptions to Rogers On Demand Mobile will be available to iPhone, BlackBerry, and Android device users, and will cost $5/month providing access to content from partners such as MTV, CBC, and Sportsnet. For a $10 one-time fee, subscribers can gain access to a wide variety of FIFA World Cup content, including live streaming of every game, post-game highlights, etc.

Once made available, the Rogers On Demand Mobile application will be available in Apple App Store, Android Marketplace, and through the Rogers WAP Portal.

Yesterday Rogers launched it's Extreme Text Messaging service, which allows users to set-up additional features to improve their text messaging experience. The new features include auto-reply, forwarding, distribution lists, and provides the ability to create and attach a signature to your messages. The feature will also allow you to block text messages from certain numbers, a much needed feature from Rogers.

The Extreme Text Messaging feature is available at no extra cost to all existing Rogers customers with plans that cover text messaging. To access the new feature, users have to access the My Account section of the Rogers Portal on their mobile device
