A couple weeks back we let you know that the HP TouchPad would soon be landing in Canada (mid-July), with the webOS tablet priced at $519.99 for the 16GB model, and $619.99 for the 32GB version. Now, we're happy to let everybody know that the TouchPad is officially available for pre-order through major electronics retailers Best Buy and Future Shop. The estimated release date, as expected, is listed as July 15th.

The TouchPad is HP's first tablet that runs their recently acquired webOS (Palm), and has a 9.7" (768x1024) touchscreen display, and is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. Unfortunately other features come in a bit on the low end, with a 1.3MP camera, and connectivity options including Wi-Fi (b/g/n), bluetooth, and some form of GPS support.

There are also a variety of accessories available along with it, including a wireless keyboard ($59.99), a charging dock ($79.99), and a few different cases/sleeves.

Bell is trying to get rid of a few older devices to make room for all of their newer handsets, and are offering up some pretty low contract-free prices on two devices specifically. The Motorola Dext and the Palm Pre have both been dropped down to a low $149.95 contract-free price.

The Motorola Dext runs on Android 1.5 (with no further upgrades coming), and features MOTOBLUR, along with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, 5MP camera, and Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and GPS connectivity. It comes with a 2GB microSD card, but can hold up to 32GB for additional memory.

The Palm Pre is a CDMA device that runs on webOS, and it features a 3.1" (320x480) touch screen display, slide out QWERTY keyboard, and a 3MP camera, along with Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and GPS. It also comes with 8GB of internal memory, and has a 3.5 mm headset jack.

They have also dropped the price of 3 of their devices by $75 each if purchased on a 3 year term, offering up the Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant for $24.95, the HTC Desire Z for $4.95, and the LG Quantum for free. These are some pretty great prices if you're willing to sign a 3 year contract, but are only available until December 31st.

Some good news surfaced recently for those who own a Palm Pre from Bell, as it's been confirmed that the device will be getting webOS 2.0 sometime soon. webOS 2.0 brings with it a variety of new features, including "True Multitasking", Just Type, HP Synergy, Exhibition, and Adobe Flash Player 10.1 Beta support. No confirmation yet on exactly when the update will arrive, but it's officially marked as "Coming Soon", so stay tuned for more information!

HP has officially announced the upcoming Palm Pre 2, and with it came a side note that it will be available in the U.S. and Canada in the coming months, though no specific launch date has been made available as of yet. Unfortunately, no word on which carrier will be offering the device has come through either, but we wouldn't be surprised if at least a couple of the major carriers launch the device.

HP recently acquired Palm, so the device will be branded the "HP Palm Pre 2", and features HP WebOS 2.0 (renamed from Palm WebOS), a 5MP camera, and 1GHz processor, with most of the other specifications remaining the same from the original Palm Pre. The device will support Flash 10.1 apparently, along with multi-tasking capabilities, and more. Definitely nice to see HP/Palm in the spotlight again, and hopefully this device won't disappoint!

Bell has launched a promotion offering up a $15 monthly rebate spanning the entire duration of the contract to users who purchase the Palm Pre on a 3 year term, in addition to providing the device at $0. The $15 monthly savings total $540 through the 36 month contract, enticing customers to try out Palm's webOS at a significantly reduced cost.

No official word yet on what this promotion means to the future of Bell and the Palm Pre, as some believe it's to compete with other devices (BlackBerry/Android handsets), while others speculate an effort to get rid of stock.
