Sony Ericsson used be known for their Walkman and Cyber-shot handsets, and were met with considerable success as a manufacturer before smartphones became popular. Lately, they have been placing most of their focus on Android devices, and it looks like the specialties might re-appear, together.

Images were recently leaked online of a Sony Ericsson Xperia handset that is branded with "cyber-shot" text. There isn't any Android branding on the device, that's visible anyways, but the button layout strongly hints at that it will be an Android handset. While this one is definitely still just a rumour, it makes sense that Sony Ericsson would make a move like this. Hopefully we'll see this device, or something similar, launch very soon!

RIM have been slowly rolling out BlackBerry OS 6 to some of the more recent devices they offer, with each individual carrier packaging and releasing the updates themselves. Now, WIND Mobile customers who own either a Bold 9700 or Curve 9300 are in luck, as the quickly growing carrier has officially released the upgrade. For those who own a Pearl 9100, WIND has stated that the new OS "will be available in coming weeks". The update is available now, and can be downloaded/installed using the latest version of Desktop Manager.

In case you haven't been following the changes RIM have been implementing, BlackBerry OS 6 features a number of improvements over OS 5, including the new WebKit browser, new menu and homescreen layout, along with a variety of performance improvements overall.

As of today, Virgin Mobile has officially launched the BlackBerry Pearl 3G 9100 for $49.99 on a 3 year contract, or $349.99 outright. The BlackBerry Pearl 3G features a 360x400 display, 3G connectivity, optical trackpad, 3.2MP camera, and Wi-Fi (b, g, n). With a 624MHz processor and 256MB internal memory, the Pearl 3G is one of the most powerful BlackBerry handsets out there, all while maintaining the familiar compact 20-key Pearl layout.

So far, Rogers, Telus and Virgin Mobile are the only three carriers to currently offer the device, though Bell is expected to launch it on June 4th.
