MTS has jumped into the news lately, first by released the Motorola Milestone A584, and now by launching another new device - the Kyocera Rio. The Rio E3100 features a 2.8" touch screen display, 1.3MP camera, 3.5mm headset jack, and can hold up to 16GB of memory via microSD card. This new CDMA device is available no from MTS for $0 on a 3 year term, $69.99 with a 2 year contract, or $304.99 outright.

The internet has been buzzing with news and rumours these past few weeks, a lot of which in Canada has been surrounding new entrants and discount brands, and it looks like Public Mobile wants some of the attention too. According to a new rumour, they're going to be releasing 2 new devices, and possibly even data services come September or October of this year. Speculation points to the devices being a ZTE and Kyocera, more than likely QWERTY handsets. The other rumour that comes with it, is that Public Mobile may be launching data services, though no word yet on a timeframe or pricing. We'll be sure to keep you up to date on any new information.

Public Mobile has confirmed the launch dates for their upcoming Toronto and Montreal networks, stating the Toronto network will launch on May 26th, with the Montreal network expected to be up and running as of June 25th.

At launch, 4 devices will be available for customers to choose from, including the ZTE C78, Kyocera Tomo, Kyocera G2GO, and Samsung R312. These handsets are offered contract-free ranging from $70 - $180, and are available now. To compliment the device line-up, Public Mobile will be offering simple unlimited voice and text options, though nothing is set in stone as of yet for a data network.
