Fido has added yet another affordable but impressive option to their line-up of Android devices. The Sony Xperia U is now available for free on a 3-year term or just $300.00 as an outright purchase on Fido's website or at Fido locations. The last few months have been filled with rumours, but it's now confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S III will be coming to Canada on June 20th. Samsung, along with most carriers, have officially confirmed they will be releasing it, along with the official specifications of the device. To go along with that exciting news, Telus and Rogers have officially released some pricing details, and leaked information reveals some Bell and Virgin Mobile price points.

As many Canadians suspected, we will not be getting the same quad-core version that was recently released in Europe, but rather, the power and speed of a Snapdragon S4 Dual Core 1.5 GHz processor and 2 GB of RAM. It comes in two versions, one with LTE for the major carriers and their subsidiaries (Rogers, Bell, Telus, Virgin Mobile, Sasktel), and a non-LTE version for the other carriers including WIND Mobile, Videotron, and Mobilicity. The LTE version will be available in 16 GB or 32 GB models, however all carriers won?t necessarily offer both. The non-LTE version will be available in only a 16 GB version for now, however both devices also have a micro SD slot capable of an additional 32 GB of expandable memory. The Galaxy S III also features a 4.8" (1280?720 or 306ppi) HD Super AMOLED Gorilla Glass touch screen display, an 8 MP rear-facing camera with LED Flash and 1080p HD video recording as well as a secondary front-facing 1.9 MP camera capable of 720p recording. Also confirmed, but expected, the handset runs on the latest version of Android OS v4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsungs own TouchWiz UI with Motion UX.

As for pricing, the following information has been made available either officially, or via information leaked online:

Rogers - $149.99 on 3 year term for 16 GB model
Telus - $159.99 on 3 year term for 16 GB model, $679.99 outright. $209.99 on 3 year term for 32 GB model, $749.99 outright.
Bell - $599.95 outright for 16 GB model, $649.95 outright for 32 GB model
Virgin Mobile - $599.99 outright for 16 GB model, $649.99 outright for 32 GB model

Unfortunately pricing for the other confirmed carriers is currently unavailable, however Mobilicity is offering a $100 credit (paid out over 10 months) for those who pre-order before June 15th. Regardless, if you?re interested in picking up a Samsung Galaxy S III, you?ll have many options to choose from on June 20th!

Excitement in the rumour mill today is indicating that the Samsung Galaxy S III could be available as soon as June 20th through a variety of carriers. Details are unconfirmed as of yet but we do know that the device will be carried by Rogers, TELUS, Bell, Virgin Mobile, WIND, Videotron, SaskTel, Mobilicity. Rumours indicate that the phone will launch in white and "pebble blue," though more recent (unconfirmed) leaks indicate that there may be a delay in launch for the pebble blue model possibly due to manufacturing issues.

The Samsung Galaxy S III features a 4.8" (720 x 1280) Super AMOLED Gorilla Glass touch screen display, and is powered by a quad-core 1.4 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM, and could come with anywhere from 16 GB to 64 GB of internal storage. It also features an 8 MP rear-camera with LED Flash and 1080p HD video recording as well as a secondary front-facing 1.9 MP camera capable of 720p recording. The Samsung Galaxy S III runs on the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich along with the latest TouchWiz UI version from Samsung for seamless integration with social networks such as Facebook, and Twitter.

There is still no mention of a price-point for any of the models as of yet, but with such an amazing phone soon to be widely available, be sure to check back soon for updates as more conclusive details roll out.

We recently let you know that the Motorola MOTOLUXE was coming to Canada, with speculation pointing to a Bell and Virgin Mobile release. Thanks to leaked internal documents surfacing online, we can now confirm that Bell will be carrying it, and intend to launch it on May 22nd. Rumoured outright pricing comes in at $300, and given the specifications of the device, this makes sense. Unfortunately, we have no confirmed launch date for Virgin Mobile, but the device is still expected to make its way there.

The MOTOLUXE features a 4? (480 x 854) touch screen display, and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread at launch. It comes with an 8 MP camera with LED flash and a secondary front-facing VGA camera. It?s powered by an 800 MHz processor and 512 MB of RAM, and offers connectivity including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

So far this year, HTC has been pretty focused on their One line-up of Android handsets, at least for Canada. The line-up includes the One X, which Rogers currently offers, as well as the One S and One V. The One V is currently available from Bell, and the One S is expected to hit multiple carriers.

The HTC One S features a 4.3? (540 x 960) Super AMOLED touch screen display with Gorilla Glass, and an 8 MP camera with LED flash and 1080p HD video capture. It comes with a secondary VGA front-facing camera, and runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The One S is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM, and comes with 16 GB internal storage.

The One V features a 3.7? (480 x 800) touch screen display, and a 5 MP camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording capabilities. It?s powered by a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM, and comes with 4 GB of internal memory. What is particularly appealing about this Android 4.0 ICS handset is its unibody construction, similar to the HTC Legend that was known as a pretty tough device.

Unfortunately, pricing is not confirmed as of yet. What we can let you know, thanks to internal documents leaked online, is that both are planned for launch on May 17th. Additional support for that timeframe is the fact that dummy units have been received by numerous stores. Given the specifications, we can expect the One V to come in at a relatively affordable price, while the One S will probably be comparable to other higher end Android handsets. Stay tuned, we?ll let you know as soon as pricing can be confirmed!

We just let you know that Fido is preparing to launch the LG Optimus 7, but they?re also planning to release the Sony Xperia U. The Xperia U features a 3.5? (480 x 854) LED-backlit LCD touch screen display, with the Sony Mobile BRAVIA Engine. It has a 5 MP camera with LED flash and 720p HD video recording, along with a secondary VGA front-facing camera. Currently, the Xperia U runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, however Sony has expressed their intentions to upgrade it to 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. The Xperia U is powered by a dual-core 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM, and comes with 4 GB of internal memory. Connectivity options are as expected, with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and HSPA.

Pricing and a specific launch date are unavailable currently, however online speculation points to it launching sooner rather than later. Keep an eye out, as we?ll be keeping you updated!

A little while back, we let you know that Rogers employees had received documentation from LG regarding their Optimus L7 handset, but we haven?t heard anything official since. Now, internal documentation from Fido has been leaked online, indicating that the device will be launched by them as well.

The LG Optimus L7 features a 4.3? (480 x 800) touch screen display with Gorilla Glass, and a 5 MP camera with LED flash and VGA video recording. It runs Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and is powered by a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM. Other features include its secondary front-facing camera, and connectivity including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc.

As for pricing and a release time frame, no information is available as of yet. It?s likely that pricing will come in on the lower end of the spectrum, and with any luck, we?ll see the handset launch in the next month or so.
