There are all kinds of things happening today as a direct result of the new iPad launch, and discounts are a part of them. Rogers and Telus have both come out with similar offers for their flex rate plans.

Telus is offering to waive the activation fee, and charge you for the bottom tier at $5 no matter how much data you use for the first 2 months. According to their website, the offer expires on April 30th, so those who couldn?t get their hands on an iPad today can still take advantage.

Rogers? offer is similar, waiving the activation fee, and offering up unlimited data for the first 2 months, promising no overages past the highest tier - $37/month. They will also double the amount of data included in each tier of their flex plan for 4 months after your unlimited period has ended. There is no clear expiration date for this promotion, but it is marked as limited time.

These are some great offers for those considering mobile data for their new or old tablet, including the new iPad. Head to Rogers or Telus to sign up!

Every summer, we see the major carriers re-launch the $30 6GB data package, typically coinciding with the latest iPhone launch. Rogers and Telus are ahead of the game this year, with internal documents stating that they are each offering it up effective immediately. To get the package, you'll need to sign up for a new 3 year term or renew your current contract, as usual. Additionally, it must be added to a voice plan, and cannot be used as a stand-alone data only package. No word on exactly when the promotion will expire, but as always, you can expect it to be available for a limited time only. We'll likely see Bell follow suit in the near future, as the re-introduction of this plan is usually aligned among the major carriers.

The three major carriers each have some type of handset protection or replacement program, and Sasktel has joined in offering a Wireless Sevice Protection Plan of their own. The plan will cost customers either $6 or $7 monthly, depending on the value of their device, and covers accidental damage, loss, theft, and malfunction (after the manufacturers warranty expires), however normal wear and tear and cosmetic damage are not covered. Customers who pay for this additional service can make up to two claims per year, but will still be responsible for a deductible ranging from $75 - $225 in order to get a replacement handset.

We recently let you know that new entrant Mobilicity confirmed plans to expand to Edmonton and Vancouver in November, and now it seems Ottawa can be added to that list. No word yet on exactly when the networks will go live in any of these 3 cities, but we also received word that Calgary and "southern Ontario" would be coming as well, but at a later time than Edmonton, Vancouver, and Ottawa. Hopefully we'll see these 3 cities go live by November 7th so residents can take advantage of the Friends and Family program that expires on that day. Keep expanding, Mobilicity!

One of the most popular data plans ever made available in Canada - the $30/6GB promotion, has been extended by Rogers and Fido until October 5th. Originally this promotion was supposed to expire on September 30th, but as a result of the overwhelming success of the package, it has been extended. If you're a heavy data-user, make sure to get in touch with Rogers or Fido by Tuesday to take advantage of the offer, but remember, the plan does come with a new 3 year data contract.

Virgin Mobile has launched a promotion for those thinking about signing up for their newly introduced SuperTab, a new handset payment option that allows users to pay off devices without having to sign contracts. The promotion, which expires on August 31st, offers up anybody who signs up a $50 accessory credit.

The SuperTab can now be used to purchase any device, and they've eliminated 2 year contracts almost entirely. Remember that Virgin recently launched the iPhone 4, BlackBerry Curve 9300, and less-recently the HTC Legend, so this might be the perfect opportunity to pick up a new phone.

Bell is now offering up the refreshed Apple iPhone 3G for just $9.99 on a 3 year term to family and friends of Bell employees. To be eligible, the device must be activated on the $50 smartphone combo plan, and the employee themselves will have to follow internal procedures to have the offer fulfilled. While this is the lowest price we've seen in Canada for a refreshed iPhone, remember that all 3 major carriers (Rogers, Bell, Telus) have been confirmed to be carrying the iPhone 4 in July, and that the iPhone 3G will not support the upgrade to iOS 4. Bell's "refreshed" iPhones "are phones returned to Bell in an unused or slightly used condition and that have passed rigorous Quality Assurance testing", according to the offer's terms and conditions. This offer expires June 30th, 2010, so if you're interested be sure to take advantage soon.
