A couple short weeks ago, we let you know that Sony had announced that they were shipping the Xperia S globally, but nothing specific was confirmed for Canada. Now, Sony has come forward with a press release stating that the Android device will be available on April 17th in limited quantities, exclusively from the Sony Store. As for pricing and carrier availability, they make mention that it is compatible with the Rogers network, and later stated that it would be available for $99.99 on a 3 year term through Rogers. Whether Sony will later allow Rogers to sell the handset or not hasn?t been revealed as of yet, and no mention of other carriers seeing the device in the future was made either.

The Sony Xperia S features a 4.3? (1280 x 720) Reality Display with the Mobile BRAVIA Engine, and is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor. Sony Ericsson and Rogers are preparing to launch the Xperia Play and arc, and not it looks like Sony has a 3rd Xperia device they're looking to bring to Canada. The Neo, which has been added to their Canadian website, features an LED-backlit 3.7" (480x854) touchscreen display. It will run Android 2.3 Gingerbread at launch, and has a 1GHz processor along with an 8.1MP camera with 720p HD video capture. The Xperia Neo has the same Mobile Bravia Engine and Exmor R technology that is in the arc, so it should have a great display and excellent photo capabilities in low light. Connectivity options are standard and include Wi-Fi (b, g, and n), bluetooth, and GPS.

No word yet on when the Xperia Neo will launch. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
