Motorola recently announced two new handsets, the ATRIX HD LTE and the RAZR V. The ATRIX HD LTE features a 4.5? (720 x 1280) touchscreen display with Gorilla Glass and an 8 MP camera with LED flash and 1080p HD video recording. It has a secondary 1.3 MP camera and is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM. The ATRIX HD LTE runs on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and offers up 8 GB of storage. Bell has announced that they will be offering the handset exclusively in Canada, and internal documents have since been leaked pointing to an early August release.

The RAZR V is expected to be fairly similar, with the main differences found in the display and processor. The RAZR V comes with a 4.3? (540 x 960) touchscreen display, and is powered by a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor. It lacks the LTE connectivity that the ATRIX HD offers, but still looks like a great device. The RAZR V will be available from Bell in August as well, but will not be an exclusive. WIND Mobile is also set to launch it a little bit later in the year, announcing they would be carrying it ?this fall?.

Unfortunately there has been no word on pricing, but we?ll be sure to keep you updated!

A couple short weeks ago, we let you know that Sony had announced that they were shipping the Xperia S globally, but nothing specific was confirmed for Canada. Now, Sony has come forward with a press release stating that the Android device will be available on April 17th in limited quantities, exclusively from the Sony Store. As for pricing and carrier availability, they make mention that it is compatible with the Rogers network, and later stated that it would be available for $99.99 on a 3 year term through Rogers. Whether Sony will later allow Rogers to sell the handset or not hasn?t been revealed as of yet, and no mention of other carriers seeing the device in the future was made either.

The Sony Xperia S features a 4.3? (1280 x 720) Reality Display with the Mobile BRAVIA Engine, and is powered by a dual-core 1.5 GHz processor. It comes with a 12 MP rear-facing camera with Sony Exmor R for mobile technology, which is capable or recording 1080p video. It also has a front-facing camera capable of 720p video capture, and offers up NFC connectivity, along with the regular connectivity support such as HSPA, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. It will launch running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, however it?s apparently set for an ICS upgrade in the coming months.

Mobilicity currently offers it exclusively in their coverage areas, and now Quebec residents can pick up the handset too.

The HTC Panache features a 3.8" (480x800) touchscreen display, and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It is powered by a 1GHz processor and 768MB of RAM, and offers a 5MP camera with LED flash and 720p HD video capture. Connectivity options are as expected, with Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and GPS.

The HTC Panache is available now from Videotron for $169.95 "Reduced price", or $479.95 contract-free.

We let you know a while back that Videotron would be launching the HTC Glacier/Panache, while Mobilicity has launched it exclusively in their service areas. A few days ago, the HTC Panache was listed twice on HTC's Canadian website, once as the Mobilicity version, and a second time showing Videotron. Unfortunately since then, the Videotron Panache was removed.

With the rumours of this device coming to Videotron keeping steady online, it's likely that someone jumped the gun and put this up on the site early. Hopefully we'll see it launch very soon, and speculated pricing sits in the $500-550 range.

There has been some great competition happening in Canada to win over consumers considering a tablet. Android is doing especially well when it comes to Google's open-source platform, with a nice range of devices to choose from. LG, who have been fairly quiet in the mobile scene lately, have actually been hard at work on some new hardware.

Rogers and LG seem to have partnered up, and are expected to be launching the LG Optimus Pad in mid-May. The Optimus Pad has an 8.9" (768x1280) 3D LCD touchscreen display, and two rear-facing 5MP cameras with LED flash and capable of recording 1080p HD video, or 720p 3D video. It also comes with a secondary 2MP front-facing camera, and is powered by a 1GHz dual-core processor. Running on Android 3.0 Honeycomb at launch, the LG Optimus Pad features HSPA, Wi-Fi, bluetooth, and an HDMI port to easily view content on your TV.

No word on pricing as of yet, but apparently this new LG tablet will be a Rogers exclusive. With an expected launch date of May 10th, we should be hearing more about the Optimus Pad in the near-future and will keep you in the loop!

Running on Symbian^3 OS, the C7 has all of the standard connectivity options you'd expect in a mid-high range device, including bluetooth, GPS, and Wi-Fi. No definite word on pricing yet, but rumours are pointing to the $350 range outright for this upcoming WIND Mobile exclusive. We'll be sure to let you know once more information becomes available!
