Samsung has recently stated via Twitter that the Canadian Galaxy S III launch has been delayed. The release of the highly anticipated Android device has been pushed back by 7 days, and is now expected to be released on June 27th. The delay will apply to all carriers launching the handset, which is pretty well all of them.

The delay, according to Samsung, is due to the extreme worldwide demand for the handset. While it may be frustrating to wait the extra week, most people can agree that such a widespread simultaneous release within Canada is still a great thing.

Hopefully there aren't any additional delays, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on any further information on the Samsung Galaxy S III as it becomes available!

Excitement in the rumour mill today is indicating that the Samsung Galaxy S III could be available as soon as June 20th through a variety of carriers. Details are unconfirmed as of yet but we do know that the device will be carried by Rogers, TELUS, Bell, Virgin Mobile, WIND, Videotron, SaskTel, Mobilicity. Rumours indicate that the phone will launch in white and "pebble blue," though more recent (unconfirmed) leaks indicate that there may be a delay in launch for the pebble blue model possibly due to manufacturing issues.

The Samsung Galaxy S III features a 4.8" (720 x 1280) Super AMOLED Gorilla Glass touch screen display, and is powered by a quad-core 1.4 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM, and could come with anywhere from 16 GB to 64 GB of internal storage. It also features an 8 MP rear-camera with LED Flash and 1080p HD video recording as well as a secondary front-facing 1.9 MP camera capable of 720p recording. The Samsung Galaxy S III runs on the latest Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich along with the latest TouchWiz UI version from Samsung for seamless integration with social networks such as Facebook, and Twitter.

There is still no mention of a price-point for any of the models as of yet, but with such an amazing phone soon to be widely available, be sure to check back soon for updates as more conclusive details roll out.

Dell updated their Canadian site last month to include the Dell Streak 7, an Android powered tablet set to launch for just $399.99. The estimated ship date was originally set to late April, and was then changed to May 3rd. Now, with the device nowhere to be found, the estimated ship date has been pushed back yet again. Now, the device is expected to launch this Thursday, May 12th.

Those holding out for this Android 2.2 tablet have seen enough delays, so hopefully it will finally launch. If you have the extra $100 to spend however, it might be worth checking out the variety of Honeycomb 3.0 tablets that have, or will be launching soon.

Rogers has always prided themselves on being at the forefront of innovation and new technology in the Canadian mobile industry, and are looking to solidify that reputation this year. Rogers has announced through their newly created site iwantmylte.ca that LTE services will launch in Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, and Ottawa sometime this year. 25 other cities will also get the new network, though it will come in 2012.

The upcoming LTE network offers maximum download speeds of 150 Mbps, and max upload speeds of 70 Mbps. Rogers states "Everyone will be able to watch streaming movies and live HDTV on their mobile devices, with crisp picture and virtually no buffering or delays". Now the real question is, what sort of compatible devices can we expect?

No word yet on which cities will get LTE in 2012, but we'll keep you updated, so stay tuned!

Canadians who own any of the Desire series handsets have received good news recently, with an HTC spokesperson announcing that Android 2.3 Gingerbread would be coming for the devices sometime in Q2 of this year. The update, which will have to be reviewed by Bell and Telus internally before actually being pushed out, will be available for the Desire, Desire Z, and Desire HD. Hopefully the review process won't take long and the update will be available for users in a timely manner, but with carriers improving the speed at which new OS' are available as of late, we shouldn't see too much of a delay.
