YAK want to be the next national wireless carrier

Globalive Communication Corporation (division of YAK communication) have submitted today (the last day for submit application for Canadian wireless auction. YAK already offer telecommunication service to Canadian but not with own spectrum. The auction begging the 27 may 2008 and no date are no available for auction closing.

"Canada is one of the least competitive wireless markets in the world," said Lacavera. "Cell phone rates are too high and penetration is too low. Many Canadians do not realize that they're paying from 60 per cent to almost 80 per cent more than Americans for their wireless service." Lacavera attributes high wireless pricing and low market penetration in Canada to a lack of competitive alternatives. Currently, only three operators - telus, Rogers and Bell - own a portion of the wireless spectrum. "It's time for an entrant in the wireless market that will provide Canadians with a new cost-effective, feature-rich offering," said Lacavera. "Yak is uniquely positioned to be that offering."
