Samsung has recently stated via Twitter that the Canadian Galaxy S III launch has been delayed. The release of the highly anticipated Android device has been pushed back by 7 days, and is now expected to be released on June 27th. The delay will apply to all carriers launching the handset, which is pretty well all of them.

The delay, according to Samsung, is due to the extreme worldwide demand for the handset. While it may be frustrating to wait the extra week, most people can agree that such a widespread simultaneous release within Canada is still a great thing.

Hopefully there aren't any additional delays, but we'll be sure to keep you updated on any further information on the Samsung Galaxy S III as it becomes available!

Virgin Mobile and parent-company Bell were supposed to release the BlackBerry Bold 9780 on November 2nd last we heard, but was delayed for unknown reasons. Now, thanks to the latest internal document leaked, we know Virgin Mobile (and likely Bell?) are set to launch the device on November 12th. Other news regarding the 9780 comes from Best Buy listing a Virgin Mobile white version for $124.99 on a 3 year contract, or $499.99 outright, which means it should be launched soon after the standard black version. The 9780 is almost identical to the 9700 model, but adds memory and the BlackBerry 6 OS, along with an improved 5MP camera. Are you going to pick up a Bold 9780?

Bell and Virgin Mobile were originally supposed to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9780 on October 21st, which was then pushed back to November 2nd. Now, for unknown reasons, the launch has been delayed once again, though no updated launch date has been made available as of yet. Speculation is pointing at last minute OS updates being the cause of the delay, much like we saw with the Torch 9800, though this hasn't been confirmed. Hopefully we'll see the device launch soon, and many think it should be ready and shipping by next week.

After many rumors and leaks claiming the BlackBerry Torch would be delayed, we've finally received confirmation on when users can expect the new device to be available. The Torch will be officially available from both carriers on September 30th, nearly a week after the originally announced launch date. Rogers is still set to carry the device for $199.99 on a 3 year term, though Bell has reduced their price by $20 to $179.95, a good attempt to make up for the delay. Additionally, Canadians looking to pick up the Torch 9800 from Bell can order it online beginning today, with the units expected to ship on the 29th.

While there's been no official word on why the delay is taking place, the BlackBerry community seems to agree that it's due to last-minute OS updates. It will be interesting to see what changes in the official launch OS, over the current v6.0.0.227 official OS.
